New channels: CNN, Cartoon Networks, TCM

As we announced at the beginning of this month, further TV stations from the Turner Broadcasting System have been incorporated into viaTV, following the Boomerang channel. These are the three prestigious stations – CNN, Cartoon Network and Turner Classic Movies.

CNN news channel – Cable News Network (provided in the version of CNN International, to be concrete) – we are sure there is absolutely no need to introduce it to you. There has been prolonged battle for the world top news ranking with the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation). Besides world latest news – politics, economy or sports, comments, write-ups or various shorter talkshows are being telecast by the CNN.

Cartoon Networks (CN) is a children’s channel oriented towards cartoons, mainly from the US production. CN cooperates with the largest American comix publishing house DC Comix. Further programmes from its own production, as e.g. Powerpuff Girls, Ed, Dexter’s laboratory, Johny Bravo, Cow and Chicken form another part of its offering. The channel is intended for children of 10-15 years of age, nevertheless enjoys high degree of popularity among the adult population as well. .-)

Primarily older big Hollywood stories are being telecast by the film channel Turner Classic Movies (TCM). It simply deals about the classics, belonging to the elementary film education. Besides movies, programmes from the Hollywood‘s backstage are being telecast as well.

Cartoon Network and Turner Classic Movies are being telecast as a single “double-channel” on the same programme position (such as already e.g. CS Film/CS Mini). Cartoon Networks being telecast from the morning till the afternoon, TCM in the evening and in the night
